Readerous is for users aged 13 and over. Non-graphic mature fiction must be labelled 18+ and restricted to adults aged 18 and over. Pornography and graphic sexual content intended primarily for sexual arousal are prohibited in all formats, public previews, covers, descriptions and private beta submissions on web and mobile.

Creators must

• Own or control the rights needed to publish every included element.
• Use accurate language, genre, completion, content-rating, and warning information.
• Label original work, externally permitted commercial fan-fiction, non-commercial fanwork, licensed branches, continuations, educational claims, and AI permissions accurately.
• For external-policy fanwork, comply with the current publication-specific provision and every territory/version limit; do not use official logos, extracted assets, game footage, music, or artwork outside the policy.
• Never imply that a rights holder licensed, endorsed, or individually approved a story when it did not.
• Keep mature material away from misleading covers, descriptions, or ratings.
• For Podfic, hold the rights and performer consent needed for every voice, recording, sound, image, video, caption, translation, and trailer; identify written, spoken, and creator languages accurately.
• Make audio-first work navigable with a clear title and language, useful timestamp labels, and captions or a transcript when one is reasonably available. Captions are recommended, not required.

Not allowed

• Stealing another person’s work, plagiarism, unauthorized publication, or making money from rights you do not hold.
• Sexual exploitation of minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or instructions facilitating serious harm.
• Hate speech, identity-based attacks, doxxing, threats, targeted harassment, or repeated personal abuse.
• Spam, scams, deceptive promotion, fraudulent identity or payment activity, or repeated unsolicited attempts to move people to an external contact channel.
• Malware, credential theft, access-control bypasses, or automated scraping that harms creators or readers.
• Unauthorized voice cloning, impersonation, ripped game footage or music, or media whose host terms do not permit the selected free, paid, or trailer use.

Discussions and feedback

Critique the work rather than attacking the person. Mark spoilers, avoid publishing private beta material, and do not use feedback access to solicit, threaten, demean, express hate toward, or pressure another participant. Readerous does not tolerate hate or harassment.

These rules apply equally to public discussions and private beta reading. A writer may privately report a beta reader’s submitted feedback, and a beta reader may privately report a writer’s invitation, reply, or conduct. Reporting does not reveal the private manuscript to Trust & Safety AI.

Reports and rights complaints

Use the report control on a book or discussion for safety, copyright, privacy, rating, or integrity concerns. Send all useful details and up to five private PDF or image proof files when you report. An authorized administrator reviews each report manually, normally within seven days. A report does not remove a book or prove wrongdoing by itself; Readerous may temporarily hide material while the facts are checked.

AI may help classify only the reported comment and report details for spam, scams, harassment, threats, hate, spoilers, or another policy concern. It does not read the surrounding manuscript for this review and cannot create a strike, restriction, or ban. The authorized administrator makes and records the decision.

Confirmed violations are counted by administrator decision—not by the number of reports or an AI score. Two confirmed temporary account restrictions may lead to an account ban. If two confirmed account bans are lawfully linked to the same verified person, Readerous may impose an indefinite person-level exclusion. Active holds and active bans do not expire while they remain in force. After an administrator lifts one, it remains in the escalation count for six violation-free months and then ages out. Reversed decisions do not count.

Serious fraud, credible threats, or severe rights abuse may justify stronger action without waiting for the ordinary sequence. An affected person has 30 days after notice to appeal to the administrator.

Readerous keeps the protected report, administrator decision, restriction and ban count, notice, appeal, and appeal outcome needed to apply this policy consistently. A linked Stripe Connect account reference may be retained with the enforcement record, but Readerous does not receive or store Stripe’s identity documents or treat an AI guess as proof that two accounts belong to the same person.

Report responsibly

Readerous records reporting behavior, including report frequency, duplicate targets, and administrator outcomes. AI review is limited per reporter and across the service to control cost. Unusually high volume or a pattern of dismissed reports may open a private reporter-behavior investigation, but it is not automatically an offense. The administrator decides whether reports were mistaken, good-faith, abusive, retaliatory, or intended to harass. Readerous does not tell a reporter merely because this private investigation has opened.
